Course Description:

Embark on an exciting and fun-filled journey into the world of robotics with LaunchPad: Introduction to Robotics via VEX IQ. This engaging 10-week course is designed specifically for young learners who are new to robotics, offering a hands-on and interactive experience that makes learning both enjoyable and educational. Using the VEX IQ platform, students will explore the basics of robotics, from understanding core components and systems to building and programming their very first robots. This course aims to ignite a passion for robotics, inspiring students to advance to more challenging levels as they continue their robotics journey.

Objective:

The primary objective of the LaunchPad course is to inspire and equip students with the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary to explore the exciting world of robotics. Through fun and interactive activities, students will build, program, and operate simple robots, developing a strong foundation in robotics that will motivate them to continue learning and take on more advanced courses. By the end of the course, students will not only understand the basics of robotics but also be eager to advance to the next level of their robotics education.

Course Outcomes:

By the end of this 10-week course, students will:

  • Understand Robotics Basics: Learn the essential components of a robot, including sensors, motors, and controllers, and how they work together to create a functioning robot.

  • Build and Assemble Robots: Gain hands-on experience in building robots using the VEX IQ platform, learning the basics of construction and assembly in an enjoyable, collaborative environment.

  • Introduction to Programming: Write simple programs that bring robots to life, enabling them to perform basic tasks and respond to their environment.

  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Develop essential problem-solving skills as they troubleshoot and refine their robot designs and programs, all while having fun.

  • Collaborative Learning: Work in teams to design, build, and program robots, fostering collaboration and communication skills in a supportive setting.
