Parent Roles
Parents: Your Role in the Robotics Competition Experience!
As parents, you play a crucial role in fostering your child's enthusiasm for robotics. Your involvement can significantly enhance their experience. Here’s how you can best support your budding roboticist:
Focus on Learning, Not Just Winning: Encourage your child to enjoy the process of learning. Keeping the experience fun and positive is key.
Celebrate Achievements: Acknowledge and praise small milestones and the learning journey, rather than just the outcomes.
Maintain Perspective: When team dynamics challenges arise, stay calm and remember that multiple viewpoints are often at play.
Support, Don’t Direct: Resist the urge to code or build on behalf of the team. Allow the students to take ownership of their work.
Facilitate Extra Practice: Ensure your child has opportunities to practice outside regular meeting hours. A guardian is required for every additional practice session to ensure the safety of all students.
Promote Core Values: Encourage sportsmanship, responsibility, respect, and kindness throughout the competition.
